Biker women take notice and be proud, Gina Woods the renowned host of open road radio is making big waves in the custom motorcycle-building arena for motorcycle women everywhere.
In 2006 Gina did something no biker woman had ever done before. With her attitude that a woman can do anything that a man can do, Gina produced an all women custom bike build for Breast Cancer at the Fat Fest 2006 in Gurnee, Illinois and thus the XX Chromes were born.
This group of biker women known as The XX Chromes consists of women riders and bike builders. All of the women ride and build custom motorcycles with Gina, have a love for riding motorcycles and come from an extensive motorcycle history.
Let me introduce the XX Chromes:

Gina Woods became a motorcycle woman in the 80’s and has parlayed her love of motorcycling into a very successful radio talk show about motorcycles called Open Road Radio.
Laura Klock rode dirt bikes for years but in 1996 she bought her first Harley Davidson. That was only the beginning for this biker woman though; Laura has gone on to hold the AMA speed record for the world’s fastest bagger record.
Jessi Combs is the first to admit that she is a daddy’s girl. Following everything he did, he had the biggest impact on her becoming a metal fabricator.
Kim Jordan joined the ranks motorcycle women in 1994, but after a spur of the moment invitation to accompany her Dad to the Laughlin River Run in 1998, her life took on a whole new meaning.
Jasmine Bluecreek a woman rider and the owner of Bluecreek Art Works and Motorcycle Training Company, has been a MSF certified safety instructor since 2001, and has a love affair with motorcycles.
Jody Perewitz is a true motorcycle woman and has been around motorcycles since the day she was born. Building custom bikes comes naturally to Jody. She's had a hand in building numerous motorcycles, most notably her own 1963 Harley Davidson Panhead.
Sara Liberte is a biker girl with an eye for photography. As a professional photographer she specializes in motorcycle and portrait photography. Sara’s photos have appeared in ads, marketing materials and annual reports, as well as leading motorcycle publications including Easy Rider Magazine, In the Wind, Hot Bike, Street Chopper and Iron Works. Her most recent commercial assignment was creating all the photography for GEICO Motorcycle Insurance's 2007 print ad campaign. She is also staff photography editor for The Cycle Source Magazine.
Tami Walker has a love and passion for motorcycling. Tami’s innovative unique nature makes her the creative force behind Diva Customs. Diva Customs is Tami’s brainchild, starting in her home it quickly grew after she had a woman rider’s bike show called Divas Only. Divas only ended up being the largest all women bike show on the east coast.
Katie Putman was born in Wisconsin, Katie’s rise to woman rider hood came at the age of seven, when she hopped a ride around her yard on the back of a family friends bike. She loved it! Katie now resides in Palm Springs and is currently working for Mad Dog Motorcycle Company - Mitch Bergeron Designs. Katie's bikes include a 1963 HD/Aeremacchi 350 sprint, 2003 Buell XB9S, and also a modified 1993 Sporty 1200.

These biker women not only ride and build custom motorcycles, they do it on stage against some of the nations top men motorcycle builders, and win. In 2007 the XXChromes built a bike in front of a crowd of 8000 people that was donated to Ribbon for Hope Cancer Research Foundation. The event was held at the Midwest Cycle Mania Motorcycle Show in Green Bay WI. Then in 2008 the XXChromes collaborated with Allstate Motorcycle Insurance to build another custom Motorcycle in front of 75,000 plus people at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Chicago Ill.
It just goes to show that women, if they put their mind to it, can do anything that a man can do. Way to XX Chromes and all you biker women!
