East Coast Biker Chicks is an all female Motorcycle Club originating February 2003 in the Boston Ma. area with members from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. We are very excited about announcing we have started the process to form individual state chapters. This new direction will prove us to be a well oiled machine going into the coming years. We welcome enthusiasts to come take a ride with us and become a “Chick for Life”. We are not prejudice to make or model of motorcycle and members must be 21 years or older.
East Coast Biker Chicks Motorcycle Club and its originating founder Cookie Belcamino are proud to announce that a Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter and a Rhode Island Chapter are now forming. The club is open to all females over the age of 21 and is not prejudice to make or model of bike. The clubs growth since the commencement in 2003 in Boston, Ma. has expanded to Chapters in Maine, and now Rhode Island and Pennsylvania.
Our growth is overwhelming to me knowing that 5 years ago this was just a thought and it has now flourished into a vast diversity of women who share the same passion as I do. I am so proud to have brought together such a great network of ladies who want to feel the independence associated with the desire to “ride their own”.
Our originating Chapter in Boston was founded by Cookie Belcamino. She has been riding for 25 years and currently rides a 2002 Harley Davidson FXDL Custom. Her brainstorm was initiated by friends coercing her into organizing a female club after riding with another local club in some parade events. There were about 8 of us close friends who rode all the time together and I thought that was enough to start a little “gang”, so East Coast Biker Chicks was hatched. I spent hour upon hour with a $20.00 piece of software called WEBEASY trying to build a website. I also visited some local radio stations and print media to help get the word out.It took off in leaps and bounds and in our first year had over 36 members.
As of today going into our 5th year our local Boston Chapter has accumulated over 150 members since the commencement. Now with the branching out into other states there is no telling how far it will go.
We are committed to aiding in the fight to find a cure for Breast Cancer and attend charity and fund raising events to help support their cause.
I think it’s a great way to meet other women who share the passion of riding and also want to make new friends along the way. Our new NEPA Chapter will be run by Pat Gallacher who is a Scranton native who still resides there. She works for a local Physician’s group as the IT Director and also was holding office as the past President/Chairman of the Greater Scranton Junior Chamber of Commerce until her resign. She has been riding for 5 years and got her license through the Local Motorcycle Safety Foundation class. She encourages new or seasoned riders to look into this as it is helpful to all stages of riding experience. Pat currently rides a 2005 Honda VTX 1300 and has accumulated in her 5 years of riding over 22k miles. She has recently visited Cookie and the Boston Chapter of the East Coast Biker Chicks last June to attend the Boston Pride Parade which is one of the largest in the country drawing over 500,000 attendees over Pride Weekend in Boston.
